Julie Brown

Julie Brown has been the owner and director of eMotion Dance since 1998. Her passion for dance excellence extends to a lifetime of experiences and events. Her early training includes instruction from Shelly Mack of Osmond Studios, participation in Bingham High Schools Minerettes, school musicals, and assistant teacher for her high school dance classes. As Miss West Jordan, she was recognized for her dance talent at the Miss Utah Pageant in 1982. Majoring in Modern dance at BYU lead to her participation with the International Folk Dancers as a clogger and many performance opportunities. Some of her favorites are “Celebration Singers,” “Just Us” as song and dance performer and choreographer, numerous productions at Promised Valley Playhouse, and her professional debut at the Red Forest Dinner Theatre (one of four female dancers.)

Besides teaching for many years at her own studio, she was the regional dance director for the YMCA in Sunnyvale California, Dance Director for Saratoga Music & Fine Arts for 5 years, and a guest instructor for numerous workshops for the Suzuki Piano and String Institutes. Her special love of musical theatre was manifested in her choreography for community theatre productions where she choreographed Oklahoma, Me & My Girl, and The Sound of Music, to name a few. During this time she was awarded “Outstanding Contributor in Arts Education” by the San Jose School District for her development of school dance programs and curriculum. Directing the Northern California regional dance festival, being on the choreography committee for the 2002 Winter Olympic opening ceremonies and acting as the Master Chorographer for the Draper and Oquirrh Mountain youth temple celebrations have been a few of her favorite artistic projects.

Julie’s love of dance is now focused on providing young dancers with the opportunity to receive excellent training and share their talents within their community.
