Eldon Johnson

Jazz Funk

Eldon began his formal dance training at the age of 16 under the direction of Penny Broussard at The Winner School in Salt Lake City, Utah. After only two years, Eldon was offered his first professional job, dancing with Odyssey Dance Theatre, under the direction of Derryl Yeager, and is now finishing his 15th year with the company. Along the way, Eldon has had the opportunity, and privilege, of working with some of the dance world’s foremost choreographers including Ronen Koresh, Mia Michaels, Dee Caspary, Mandy Moore, Travis Wall, Bonnie Story, Kenny Ortega, Vince Patterson, Tony Powell, Jason Parsons, Justin Giles, and Liz Imperio. Eldon’s other company credits include Parson’s Dance Project, under the direction of Jason Parsons, SoulEscape, under the direction of Justin Giles, and Mia Michaels’ RAW, under the direction of Mia Michaels, of which he also served as dance captain.

Eldon has danced on stages all across the world including Beijing, China, Seoul, Korea, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, Costa Rica, Mexico, and all across the US, including Jacobs Pillow and the Alvin Ailey Center in New York. In 2010, Eldon was voted Utah’s Best of State Individual Dancer.

While most of Eldon’s career has consisted of company work, he has also worked commercially for such companies as Walt Disney World, Coca-Cola, Windows 7, and USANA. Eldon was a featured dancer in Disney’s “High School Musical” and “High School Musical 3: Senior Year,” MTV’s “American Mall” in which he also served as the assistant choreographer, and performed with Florence + the Machine at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.

Eldon has not only found a passion for dance but for assisting as well. Eldon has assisted many teachers and choreographers, including Dee Caspary, for his work on the hit TV show, “So You Think You Can Dance,” and Bonnie Story and Vince Patterson for the Cirque Du Soleil show, “Viva Elvis.” Whether it’s dancing or assisting, Eldon has a passion for the art of dance and is excited to see where it will take him next.
